my photography background
Most of my life has been taking photos, looking at photos, and learning my preferences and honing the techniques that matter to what I want to make.
Formally, I earned a certificate in Studio Art: Photography from UW-Madison in 2014.
Informally, my dad has been my primary photography guide. He has been an avid photographer my entire life - from family photos to large scale landscapes and platinum printing.

my approach
My approach to portrait photography is collaborative and interactive. I seek in-between moments and genuine interactions. I don't want to capture a pose - I want to capture you.
my life
I moved back to Minnesota on April 1, 2020 with my spouse, Bryn. We settled in Saint Paul with our dogs, Art and Twig, and our cats, Hansi & Marlo. We started IVF in 2024 and welcomed our child Remy to the mix January 2026. We are obsessed with him.
I like to bake, craft, sew, play music, make coffee, and take photos! In second grade, I used two full rolls of film in my Olympus Infinity Stylus Epic - a fixed 35mm 2.8 to photograph my dog Xena. I had photos of her sleeping in the living room, sleeping in my bedroom, sleeping on a dictionary - action shots of her walking across the kitchen! My parents ordered doubles when the film was developed thinking it was vacation photos... alas, but we do have a full album of Xena.
I was 11 when I started taking photography more seriously. I created opportunities to take photos by shooting with my dad, doing photo shoots with friends, and self-portraiture when no one was around. Through my enthusiasm, I started to hone my portraiture skills.
